Friday

Did you know that it is Friday? Friday at 3:44 pm to be exact.

Yesterday was Thursday. Yesterday I did not do a Thankful Thursday post. I'm a slacker.

However, yesterday my hubs did make dinner. Well, after I reminded him that he had agreed to make dinner he threw a pork roast in the crock pot with some stuff. I don't know that I have ever mentioned to him that I don't particularly care for pork anything, bacon excluded. Not only do I not really care for pork but I like my meats seasoned, not just plain or rubbed with olive oil like the salmon that he makes. So anyways, I came home to a crock pot full of water and beans. Now, my dad is a big fan of bean soup, so I knew that he would love it no matter what. When dinner time rolled around there were plates and bowls on the table because Brad knew that it was more like stew then roast. Bean soup....... the same bean soup that my dad loves to make that only he and my brother ever liked. In said bean soup was a whole pork roast, not cut up or anything ...... just in there. I don't understand how this man has made it this long and hasn't learned that sometimes it's a good idea to find a recipe. After I smothered the pork with HP sauce and added a bit of season salt to the "bean soup" it was ok. Not ok good, just ok. I really do appreciate that he made food so I didn't have to but, I wish we liked things cooked similarly.

On another note, my brother and his family are moving this weekend. We will be moving them across town, not far but still, it snowed last night. I'm looking forward to seeing my little dude. Isn't this picture of him great?

This is soo JJ. I love him. Silly kid.

Hmm, there you go ... that's my post for the day..... enjoy.

Sad Face

My camera is missing.

It may very well be not just missing, but gone for real.

I left it at church in the kitchen after one of our youth events. This was two weeks ago. I have asked around and no one has seen it or anything. My next try is to see if the church secretary has it or knows about it. So, at least for now, I am down to the pictures my phone can take. Thank goodness it has a decent little camera on it.

The person that has my camera now has pictures of my sisters wedding, our cats, and the kids in our youth group serving spaghetti to 80 people at church. But then, the fish in the ocean have my pictures from 5 years ago that I took in Myrtle Beach and pictures from my college graduation. I hope they are ALL enjoying my photos.
I guess I should really start saving up for this bad boy now......*drool*

Thankful Thursdays!

That's right! Today is finally Thursday!

  • Spring weather - I love the smell of spring, the sounds, the flowers, the rain, the sun..... I love it all.
  • Sneakers - I don't understand the Ugg trend. I was never a fan. I still am not. It's nice to see more sneakers around then Uggs or their knockoffs.
  • Nephews - I love my nephew. I love his laugh. I love how hard he laughed on Sunday when Erin and I were singing the Frog Song to him at Bob Evans and the how hard he still laughed as he, Mom and I sang it on the way home. Annd when we sang it with his daddy.
  • Date nights - that's right people, I have an upcoming date night. My hubby loves me and his prof told him to make sure not to do anything school related Friday or Saturday. If I didn't have a Mary Kay event for my sister to go to, we would probably be going away for Friday/Saturday.

Those are my thankful things. What are yours?

St. Patrick's Day

That's right it's St. Paddy's Day. It is the first time in YEARS that I'm at work on the 17th. On the 17th of March I'm usually running back and forth between two to three Irish pubs in town as the only dancer over 21 in the band. Two dances per show, 4 to 6 shows during the day. This year however...... nada. I wasn't asked in time. I didn't take to day off and no shows were gone over with me to prepare for this crazy day.

It's good and bad, I think. It's usually a lot of fun. The drunks are funny and dancing an angry jig at/for drunks is always a good time. I'm a fan of picking one that's close to dance for/at and watching their reaction. However, the driving and running and dancing is usually hard on me. My mom usually takes the day off to run with me and help with shoe changes and having the car ready to go to get me to the next place. Also, beer on leather shoes sucks! I get to save a pair of shoes this year, so that's pretty nice.

I guess, all in all, I'm missing it this year. Next year I'll make sure to mention something, that way I'm not sitting here feeling like I'm missing out on something. Not sad that I'm not marching in the parade though. Have fun Cap City! Knock their socks off!

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!!!!!

This is what I saw today on my break! I'm so excited that spring has come to Ohio. I have been waiting, it seems like this winter went on forever. Spring is my favorite season. I love the newness that you can feel during this time of year. You can't beat the smell of the air in the Spring either. Ahhhhhhh. I just wish that I would get the spring cleaning bug. :)

Work related tragedy.

This incident happened a few blocks from my building. It happened early this morning and the university has sent out a few updates without information. This is the first update that had any information in it.

University police provide update on campus shooting

University Police have confirmed the identities of the victims and suspect in a shooting that occurred on campus earlier this morning. They also have confirmed two deaths.
• Larry , 48, building services manager, a victim in the shooting, was pronounced dead at the scene earlier this morning.
• Henry , 60, operations shift leader, also a victim, is in stable condition at the Medical Center
• Suspect, Nathaniel, 51, custodial worker, sustained a self-inflicted gunshot at the scene and was transported to Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival

More than 1/2 dozen employees were working at the Maintenance Building, when the suspect entered an office suite with a gun and began shooting. Those employees and other coworkers have been offered grief counseling. The incident appears to be work related. Brown was hired in October 2009.

Erin's thinking of auditioning for GLEE!

My sister, Erin, over at Dishes & Wishes is collecting votes as to which song she should send in for an audition for the FOX show Glee. Give you opinion and watch her rise to stardom!

If you haven't checked out the show, your missing out. It completes me like Dawson's Creek did in it's first couple seasons. Ahhhhh, to dive into a great show. :)

It's growing!

So when Erin, at Dishes & Wishes, was little she used to wander away from my parents at the store. When she did this you always knew to look in the toy aisle to get find her. What we didn't know until later is that she would go and find these.

Then she would head to the closest bathroom and dump the whole package in a toilet, watch them grow and the run back to either the toys or to find mom and dad. When holidays roll around now I try to remember to get her a pack, that way she can legally watch them grow.

For my birthday, Brad got me one of these that was a duck egg.
It's the same concept. You fill a bowl with water and place the egg in the water and as he grows inside of the egg, he hatches! Here is a picture story of my little ducks life thus far.

Day 1 (We put him in the water the night before)

This morning when I woke up he looked like this.

I helped him out of his shell and changed his water and when I left this morning he looked like this.

I know you guys are super excited to see how my little guy grows. I plan on taking pictures every day of his growth. Stay tuned to catch all of the exciting updates.

Wendy's Fail!

So today I got to eat some of my leftover birthday quiche for lunch. Since I only brought a normal sized piece of quiche, I stopped down at Wendy's to pick up a side salad. My quiche was just as good today as yesterday and then I opened my salad. I love that they come with croutons. I never used to like croutons, but now I love them. I pulled out my croutons and look at how delicious the look.
Don't the look delicious? When I flipped it over though........

Two months!!! Two months, really?? Thanks goodness it's just stale bread. That's right, two months expired and I ate them. They were too yummy to toss.

Do you eat things that are past the expiration date?

Thankful Thursdays!

That's right, it's Thursday! And I'm thankful..... for.....

  • People who love me the way I am.
  • Siblings that will hear me out.
  • Weird dreams that you remember in the morning.
  • Birthdays.
  • Family Game Night (more on that later)
  • Google. I learn so much from googling things.
  • Quiche YUM!!!!!!

I think that's a pretty good list for today.

What are you thankful for?

Birthday for me!

So I'll start out saying that today is my 29th Birthday! Happy Birthday to me! I think its amazing how many posts you get on your birthday through Facebook. Gotta love that little calendar notice thing on the side.
Now, I have never not looked forward to a birthday. They tend to sneak up on me because it's only the second day of the month. In February you can't see that it's coming on the calendar and then you flip the page and poof, it's the next day.
Anyhow, this year I'm having a hard time with it. It maybe that I'm almost 30 and 30 is officially grown up. Your supposed to have your act together by 30. I always thought I would have two kids by 30. I thought I would have a house by 30, a bedroom suite that matched, real furniture. I thought I would be comfortable in my life at 30. I didn't think I would be dealing with a husband going through law school, or living in my parents house again, or working diligently to pay off our debt.
I love that Brad has finally found something that really interests him and is pursuing that. I'm glad that my parents are kind enough to let us live with them until he gets out of school. I'm glad that I have a stable job with benefits. I'm glad that we have the ability to pay down debt hardcore. I'm glad that I have a great life, even if it's not the life that I imagined at 14 or 24.
So here's to a birthday that teaches me that not all dreams are meant to be fulfilled in your time. I'm still not loving turning 29 though. :)
