So this week was my birthday. Can you guess how old I turned?
One of the girls came in early to decorate my desk. This is what I walked into. :)

It's growing!

So when Erin, at Dishes & Wishes, was little she used to wander away from my parents at the store. When she did this you always knew to look in the toy aisle to get find her. What we didn't know until later is that she would go and find these.

Then she would head to the closest bathroom and dump the whole package in a toilet, watch them grow and the run back to either the toys or to find mom and dad. When holidays roll around now I try to remember to get her a pack, that way she can legally watch them grow.

For my birthday, Brad got me one of these that was a duck egg.
It's the same concept. You fill a bowl with water and place the egg in the water and as he grows inside of the egg, he hatches! Here is a picture story of my little ducks life thus far.

Day 1 (We put him in the water the night before)

This morning when I woke up he looked like this.

I helped him out of his shell and changed his water and when I left this morning he looked like this.

I know you guys are super excited to see how my little guy grows. I plan on taking pictures every day of his growth. Stay tuned to catch all of the exciting updates.

Birthday for me!

So I'll start out saying that today is my 29th Birthday! Happy Birthday to me! I think its amazing how many posts you get on your birthday through Facebook. Gotta love that little calendar notice thing on the side.
Now, I have never not looked forward to a birthday. They tend to sneak up on me because it's only the second day of the month. In February you can't see that it's coming on the calendar and then you flip the page and poof, it's the next day.
Anyhow, this year I'm having a hard time with it. It maybe that I'm almost 30 and 30 is officially grown up. Your supposed to have your act together by 30. I always thought I would have two kids by 30. I thought I would have a house by 30, a bedroom suite that matched, real furniture. I thought I would be comfortable in my life at 30. I didn't think I would be dealing with a husband going through law school, or living in my parents house again, or working diligently to pay off our debt.
I love that Brad has finally found something that really interests him and is pursuing that. I'm glad that my parents are kind enough to let us live with them until he gets out of school. I'm glad that I have a stable job with benefits. I'm glad that we have the ability to pay down debt hardcore. I'm glad that I have a great life, even if it's not the life that I imagined at 14 or 24.
So here's to a birthday that teaches me that not all dreams are meant to be fulfilled in your time. I'm still not loving turning 29 though. :)

Birthday for a Brother!

Yesterday was my baby brothers birthday. Due to his schedule and mine, we didn't have the ability to connect until about 10pm last night. I gave him a call and he was still in class, so I left him a long rambling message. I told him how it was his birthday and I hoped it was going really great and that 26 years ago Mom was in labor with him. I talked about how old he was now that he was 26 and that he was officially more then a quarter of a century, then said love you and hung up.

About 20 minutes later he comes strolling through the door and promptly yells up the stairs to me, "Crystal, how old am I?" To which I answer, "26!....... Oh, Shit! 27!" "Your twenty seven this year. That means that I am going to be 29." Devin laughed. I told him that I was in denial and that he was still 26 and I didn't want to hear him tell anyone differently...........

So, here's to Devin's 26th birthday!!!!

Birthday Dinner

Yesterday was Erin's , over at Dishes and Wishes, birthday. To celebrate our family and her new family headed over to Rusty Bucket. It was strange because the last time we all got together at Rusty Bucket, Erin and Jake had just gotten engaged. The weather was also very similar to that night. The night of the engagement Jake ran his mom's car into the back of his sisters car after dinner. Last night he did not. It's funny how a gathering can make you remember things from past gatherings. Anyhow, we had a wonderful dinner to celebrate Erin's birthday.

I switched purses this week. I had been carrying one that I got from Target about a year ago. I have never gotten so many compliments on a purse as I did on that one. Anyhow it was starting to get worn out and sad, so I switched over to one that Erin and Jake gave me for Christmas. So cute!
