Wedding one.

This past weekend we attended a wedding at The Columbus Athletic Club. This is one of the premier places in Columbus to hold a wedding. The fees are through the roof and I have not known anyone that had had their wedding there yet. I was very excited to go to this wedding. The groom is my little sisters fiance's twin.... got that. Both the wedding and the reception were held at the Athletic Club. This is also the first wedding I have attended since our wedding so there were expectations to be met between it being the first since ours and being at the location it was at.

We started off the evening by running late. I was told that the wedding was at 5:30pm. I thought it was at 5:00pm. So we were prepping and primping for a 5:00 wedding. At 4:50 I get a phone call from my father asking what I was wearing to the wedding because my mom was getting dressed at that point and wanted to know. I was wearing not a whole lot as I had just gotten out of the shower and finished my hair. Dad expressed a bit of concern that I wasn't dressed and made up yet, which I didn't understand until he mentioned that the wedding was in fact at 4:30pm. So the hustle began. We were dressed and out the door in 15 mins flat. That is pretty amazing for us. We didn't know exactly where the Athletic Club was and so I was on the phone as we were driving, getting directions and having a minor panic attack. We pulled into the parking lot at exactly 4:30pm and had to walk about a block to get to the place. What wedding starts on time? This one. So we walk in as the grandparents are walking down the aisle. Thank goodness we were in our seats, well the ones we snagged, before Erin walked down the aisle.

I have to say that the girls looked beautiful, the boys looked very handsome, and the bride looked radiant! Her dress was amazing and perfect for her. The room on the other hand was not as pretty as I expected. But I guess you pay for the name. The ceremony was good, normal. Couldn't really see what was going on due to everything being on the same level, but you could see the wedding parties heads over the guests. The bride evidently didn't want to say the "for richer, for poorer" and that of course made everyone laugh. They were very adorable and beaming after saying their vows.

After the ceremony, we were dismissed into the hall for a cocktail hour. Brad and I did a little bit of exploring but didn't find much. After what seemed like an eternity we were let back into the ballroom which was L shaped to choose a seat that wasn't at a RESERVED table. We chose one in the back on the left hand side of the room. They had a full military wedding with a sword ceremony. Jake, lil sisters fiance, got the privilege of smacking Whit on the tush with his sword and got it stuck in her bustle while he did it. The look of pure panic on his face was priceless! Their first dance was cute, they worked a little something out. Father/daughter, mother/son dances were standard. Time for dinner!

First course was Wedding soup! Cute! A little tiny cup that was cooling by the time we got it and cool by the time you finished it. Ok it was soup, can't expect it to stay hot for too long. Main dish, Chicken with some weird tomato sauce, mashed potatoes and green beans. Chicken was dry, really dry, green beans and mashed potatoes.... can't screw those up. Overall, disappointed with the meal.

The DJ starts his thing. First off bouquet toss to Single Ladies by Beyonce. First time I don't have to do the bouquet toss and they have the best song now! How much more perfect then All the single ladies, put your hands up!?! Garter toss: Mission Impossible. Then we have songs like Shout, Hokey Pokey, Electric Slide, Cha-cha Slide, Twist...... the list goes on. Where is the current music? Where is a soundtrack that represents the bride and groom? At very early 20's this play list of songs just isn't them. It's not me either. I want to dance with my husband, a slow dance that will let my heart thump. I was disappointed. :( Two polka's and a list of wedding expected songs, no booty shaking, no loving sways. No nothing.

Overall, disappointed. The bride and groom were glowing. That's all that matters. Guess I'll have to make my own play list and ask my husband to dance in my living room. Well.. that doesn't sound like a bad idea regardless.
